The Giant Crab

Check out the Barnie on the leg of the crab. I don't know how old in crab years it takes to grow a giant barnacle but i would imagine it is pretty old

I found this giant crab the size of my head, hanging on a bunch of kelp in the ocean. So naturally I dove below it, cut the kelp off with my dive knife and starting hauling it into shore so i could make some crab soup. But the crab got wise to the gig about half way in and jumped of the kelp. So i had to man up and just grab him. He tried to pinch me but he couldn't quite reach. Then my wife convinced me to let him go. Something about her being pregnant and not being able to eat fresh seafood from the contaminated Malibu ocean and something about not having enough meat on it to be worth it ( I disagreed) nor did we know if it was legal.

When i got home i looked it up and realized it was a king crab! The next one will not be so lucky.

More Jackson

All good things must come to an end:  We had to take Jackson's current favorite book back to the library.  "Way down deep in the Deep Blue Sea, I'm looking for a treasure for my mama and me.  I'm so brave, can't scare me, way down deep in the deep blue sea!"

Sunday Steve put Jackson down for a nap and didn't realize he was packing heat...

Last week we were lucky enough to have tickets to the Huntington Gardens. It was a beautiful day! Here is Jackson with some friends from the ward. I noticed this really awesome tree for the first time.  I think here must have been the inspiration for Dr. Seuss!

Here you go folks, a pregnancy picture.

Jackson loved looking at the fish.  He kept yelling "LOOK, 'NOTHER ONE!" I was preparing myself to fish him out after falling in, but he stayed dry.  In fact, he wore underwear the entire day and had no accident. Yay Jackson. (Potty training is ongoing...)

my magic sink

I have a magic sink. Yes, it is true. It is amazing.  Let me tell you how my magic sink works.  No matter how many times I clear the sink by cleaning and doing the dishes, it just fills up again in no time at all.  I'm pretty sure there are only three of us living here. And there is no way the three of us can create such a big mess in such little time... so I conclude it is magic. Do you have a magic sink?

Plenty of Time, Plenty of Time

Saturday we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to the BYU vs SDSU basketball game in San Diego- and even luckier to win!! Go Cougs!! It was a good game {I say it was good because it was a close game, keeping our attention, although Steve would prefer a good 20pt lead for the whole show... boring!}

Here we are in our BYU basketball T-shirts compliments of uncle JD (Yes, I am like 30 weeks pregnant or something like that, who keeps track these days?)

We didn't get to talk to Jimmer (we were hoping to have him sign our tshirts... okay we didn't even bring a marker, but that would have been cool, right?) but look, its JOHN BECK! I felt pretty embarassed saying hi to him, I wanted to say, "John, my favorite sports moment of all time is still "CAUGHT FOR THE TOUCHDOWN, CAUGHT FOR THE TOUCH DOWN, JOHNNY HARLINE..." You remember the screaming right?!" But all I could do was look silly and shake his hand like five times. BYU fans are sick... Poor John Beck!

Here is Jackson with Hailey. We went to the game with Steve's cousin Brad and his family- you Idaho Fam here is a picture of Jackson's California Cousin, they have a good time together. Jackson found an Aztec yelling cone... (what are they called?!) and he thought it made a great hat.

To shift gears, Jackson has been skipping out on his nap about once/week. I put him down and then he gets up and plays by himeslf in his room. One day I came in to find him on the floor and his bed full of EVERYTHING you can imagine:

Shoes, books, toys, clothes... etc. Most days he gets up after I put him down and gets a few things like books and cars to put in bed with him. Then when he wakes up he reads or plays with whatever. Funny little guy.  We finally went to the library and got a few books- he loves a book called "Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea" he has most of it memorized so we will stop to let him fill in the blanks.  He memorizes a lot of books that he hears a lot which is so cute. He has some of "Are you my mother" memorized and the Pout-Pout Fish book, although we haven't had to read that one in a while.
