Last week we were happy to have Grandma and Grandpa Boyle (Steven's parents) in town for a visit. We had a great time together showing the folks were we live and having a few new experiences.
Wednesday, July 15: We picked Gma and Gpa up at the airport. A happy reunion.

Thursday, July 16: Santa Monica and the Farmer's Market. Steve took the day off school to spend time with the family.
We are getting ready to take off, Jackson standing on his own!
We took the 110 to the 10 West and on our way to the beach made a stop at Stan's old mission home. His first apartment on the mission was in Alhambra and he attended church in the South Pasadena building where we now meet. 44yrs ago it was the "Western States Mission" and this was the very building he slept as a new missionary to meet the mission president.
Now this buliding serves as headquarters for the Los Angeles Mission where Uncle Jason served as a missionary.
The mission home is adjacent to the LA temple, which you can see in the background of this cool picture of Jackson and Steven.
On to Santa Monica Beach and Pier.
Jackson got pretty excited about chasing the pigeons from his stroller.
We had lunch at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. on the pier and then headed for home.
No trip to South Pasadena would be complete without stopping by the Farmer's Market on Thursday night.
And no vacation would be complete without a few games of Settlers of Catan.
Friday, July 17: A visit to campus and a Faith Hill concert.

Friday morning on our way to meet up with Steven on campus, we made a stop at the fabric district. Joy found the perfect material to back a quilt she is making with her ward.

I know, we've all been wondering, are these guys really in school? But yes, it's true. Here I have captured rare photographic proof.
Friday night we were able to attend a Faith Hill concert at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a great concert and a lot of fun. It was an "unofficial" ward activity, so we sat with a lot of other couples in the ward which added to the entertainment.
Saturday, July 18: Temple Trip and a Dodgers Game
We were able to attend a session at the beautiful LA temple.
Mark Coons was nice enough to watch Jackson for us, but when we got home Jackson was dressed in pink...
Saturday night we were able to attend a Dodgers' Game. It was AWESOME. We had great seats and there is a lot of enegery at Dodger Stadium. We almost missed out--we bought tickets for the wrong night! Luckily one of the ushers took pity on us and gave us 2 free tickets, and we bought 2 more of the cheapest tickets, but we were able to sit in nearly the same seats we had reserved.
Jackson was a good sport. We got him to clap with the crowd.

Sunday, July 19: Dinner and a Sunday Drive

Grandma and Grandp thanks for coming! It was a speical visit! We can't wait to be with you again in August!
Next stop was the Barn Burner on Fair Oaks. Thursdays they have a $1 menu. We've always wanted to try it out mostly because of the big chicken out front. The grilled corn on the cob was awesome.
"Dodgers are #1!"
The Dodgers were playing the Atlanta Braves. After the 7th inning we were down 2 to 4. So, we left. To Steven's dismay, the Dodgers came back. In the last inning Ethier hit a walk-off homerun to win the game for the Dodgers. Oh well. If we had stayed they would have lost!
